How To Combo With Ryze Like A Pro!

Everyone knows who Ryze, The Rogue Mage is, but not everyone knows how to play him well or how to combo him. Ryze is easily one of the strongest AP Mid characters in the entire game because of his tankyness mixed with damage late game to his simple high harass in the early game and with his CC and the mobility he provides for the team. It is no wonder he is highly picked and banned in competitive play and high elo games.

NOTE: Ryze has some problems against certain champions with long rage or high damage early game

MASTERIES:
Their are 2 Masteries pages you can run on Ryze. 1. Tanky resitance Ryze or 2. utility Ryze
1. 0-21-9: For cooldowns and incease buff duration or 9-21-0: For Increase Magic pen
2. 0-9-21: For increase health, MR and Armour + Decrease Cooldowns or 9-0-21: For increase Magic pen + the Decreased Cooldowns.

SUMMONER SPELLS: Ignite And Flash
Ignite and Flash are perfect spells that work expertly with ryze skill set. ignite is for finishing off those low enemy's that just get away and flash can be used both offensively with the flash into Rune Prison or defensively with a flash over the wall to escape that sticky situation.

RUNES:
Their Are 2 Kind of Rune Pages that you can go. 1. Offensive rune page where you maximize your damage early game or 2. Defence rune page where you will maximize your MR or health to tank or substain more damage into being strong mid-Late game.

Greater Mark of Insight (+0.95 magic penetration)x9 - So your ability's deal a lot more damage early game negating their MR
Greater Seal of Intellect (+6.89 mana)x9 - To Increase early damage on your ability's and let you spam a bit more
Greater Glyph of Intellect (+11.25 mana)x9 - To Increase early damage on your ability's and let you spam a bit more
Greater Quintessence of Swiftness (+1.5% movement speed)x9 - To grant you more mobility making to easier to close the gap to complete a combo

SPELLS:
Overload - Ryze throws a charge of pure energy at an enemy unit for heavy damage and additional damage based upon Ryze's maximum mana. Ryze also gains passive cooldown reduction.
Passive: Ryze gains 2/4/6/8/10% cooldown reduction.

Active: Ryze blasts enemy unit for 60/85/110/135/160 (+0.4) plus 6.5% of his max mana (+) in magic damage.

Rune Prison - Ryze traps target enemy unit in a cage of runes, preventing them from moving and dealing damage. Also gains bonus damage based on Ryze's maximum mana.
Ryze traps an enemy unit, preventing them from moving for 0.75/1/1.25/1.5/1.75 seconds and dealing 60/95/130/165/200 (+0.6) plus 4.5% of his max mana (+) in magic damage.

Spell Flux - Ryze releases an orb of pure magical power that deals damage and bounces from the initial target up to 6 times. Targets hit have their magic resistance reduced.
Ryze unleashes an orb of magical power which bounces to enemy units or himself, up to 5 times. Each bounce deals 50/70/90/110/130 (+0.35) plus 1% of his max mana (+) magic damage and reduces the target's Magic Resistance by 12/15/18/21/24 for 5 seconds.

Desperate Power - Ryze channels forbidden arcane power, granting him spell vamp, and causing all of his spells to deal AoE damage.
Active: Ryze becomes supercharged, gaining 15/20/25% Spell Vamp, 35/45/55 Movement Speed, and causes his spells to deal 50% AoE damage for 5/6/ seconds.

PASSIVE: Arcane Mastery - When Ryze casts a spell, all other spells have their cooldown reduced by 1 second.

ITEM BUILD:
STARTING ITEMS:
Boots and Health Pots x3
CORE ITEMS:
Tear Of the Goddess - You want rush this item ASAP so you can start stacking it up to 1000
Catalyst - This is the second item you want to rush after you Tear, this item will provide mana and health regen every level increase and can be upgraded into a Rod Of Ages for tankyness and increase mana or a Banshee's Veil for the MR and passive.
Glacial Shroud - This is the last item you want to rush, this item provides Armour, Mana and can be upgraded later into a frozen heart which will be great for you team against those AD carries.
FINISH BUILD:
1. Sorcerer's Boots
2. Archangel's Staff
3. Banshee's Veil
4. Frozen Heart
5. Void Staff
6. Rod of Ages (if you went double catalyst) or Will of the Ancients

HOW TO COMBO:
With Ryze the Combo is simple. First you want to throw out your Overload (q) and straight as it hits use your Rune Prison (w) and then quickly use spell flux (e) and then Overload them agian (q). You can also use your ultimate at the start to make everything AOE.

SKILL ORDER:
You want to max out your Overload (q) ASAP and then after that max your Rune Prison (w) maxing Spell Flux Last (e). Get your ultimate Desperate Power whenever you can.

EARLY GAME WITH RYZE:
Ryze is a lot stronger than people think he is in the early game. He can deal a lot more damage then people expect. In the laning phase you want to farm up by last hitting the minions and if your enemy comes close just use your Overload (q) on him and then the rest of the combo.

MID GAME WITH RYZE:
By the mid game you should have all 3 of your main items and should deal a lot of damage while being tanky. Make sure you get blue and spam to stack your Tear of the Goddess up. You should now be winning you lane and ganking to help your other lanes.

LATE GAME WITH RYZE:
By late game you should be a boss and be demolishing their whole team. You should be really tanky and deal a lot of damage. Your item build should be finished and in team fights should be going for their carry's. Also try and catch people off with a flash Rune prison (w) so it is a 4v5 next fight.
